CRIME ALERT
Residents of
Grant, Stillwater Township, May Township and Scandia,
Recently, the
Washington County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous reports of
residential burglaries in your area. The suspect(s) have been
entering residences through unsecured front, rear, side or garage
access doors. We believe the suspect(s) in this case are simply
seeking out residences that are unsecured and may be trying a number
of homes in a given area. If the doors are locked they move on to
the next home.
We believe that
the individual(s) responsible for these burglaries will approach the
target residence during the day, typically 11:00a.m.-2:00p.m. when
they believe the homeowners are at work. They will ring the door
bell or knock on the front door several times. If no one answers
the door, they will simply try the door; if it is locked they may go
around the house trying other doors attempting to gain access. If
all the doors and windows are locked, we believe they move on.
The Sheriff’s
Office has been stepping up residential patrols during the day time
hours. We are requesting that residents be aware of what has been
happening in their areas and request that you secure your homes,
automobiles and outbuildings. If anyone suspicious has come to your
home during the day time hours in the past 2 months or you have any
information on their identity and what they were driving, please
call the Sheriff’s Office at 651-439-9381.
If you should
encounter a suspicious situation, such as a person sitting in a
vehicle in your neighborhood during the day time hours and does not
appear to belong or have a legitimate purpose, call the Sheriff’s
Office immediately to report it. If you see someone suspicious on
your property, call 911 immediately.
The Washington
County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $500.00 reward for information
leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual(s)
responsible for burglaries in the area. Thank you for your
assistance.
